HELENA – A federal appeals court Monday affirmed the 10-year prison terms of two Browning men convicted in a December 2007 assault with a dangerous weapon.
A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected the appeals of 45-year-old Johnny Old Chief and 43-year-old Maynard Old Chief.
Maynard Old Chief was sentenced for assault with a dangerous weapon.
Johnny Old Chief was sentenced for aiding and abetting the assault, an incident that began and ended with people being stabbed in the neck.
It happened Dec. 29, 2007 at a party at Johnny Old Chief’s house in Browning which, according to court records, lasted several days and involved “an abundance of alcohol.”
Both defendants are serving their sentences at the high-security Canaan Federal Prison in northeastern Pennsylvania.
