BILLINGS – Justice and law enforcement officials have scheduled a series of press conferences Thursday to tout a federal program to reduce gun crimes.
Since 2001, $2 billion has been spent nationwide to hire new federal and state prosecutors, provide training and deter juvenile crime through the program, Project Safe Neighborhoods.
That included a $74,000 grant last year to Montana’s Board of Crime Control.
Montana’s U.S. Attorney, Bill Mercer, is scheduled to appear with state and local officials in Billings, Helena and Great Falls Thursday to promote the project’s accomplishments.
