Browning Residents Sentenced for Gas Theft

GREAT FALLS – Two Browning residents have been sentenced to federal prison and ordered to pay restitution after pleading guilty to stealing government credit cards and using them to buy gasoline.

Thirty-year-old Vanessa Bahr was sentenced Monday to 16 months in prison and ordered to pay just over $22,000 in restitution. U.S. District Judge Sam Haddon sentenced 30-year-old Justin Meineke to six months in prison and ordered him to pay nearly $23,700 in restitution.

Prosecutors say Meineke and Bahr used stolen General Services Administration fuel cards to charge nearly $23,700 in gasoline. In some cases, the two charged friends and relatives to fuel vehicles — $20 for cars and $40 for larger vehicles.

Meineke and Bahr pleaded guilty in April to theft of government property and making false claims.
