Breuning Celebrates 113th Birthday Monday

GREAT FALLS – The Great Falls resident considered to be the world’s oldest man celebrates his 113th birthday Monday.

A party for Walter Breuning is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Rainbow Retirement Community in Great Falls. Gov. Brian Schweitzer is among those expected to attend.

Breuning also is scheduled to be featured in a segment on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric Monday evening. He was featured on the CBS Evening News in April, shortly after becoming the nation’s oldest man.

Breuning was born on Sept. 21, 1896 in Melrose, Minn., and moved to Montana in 1918. He worked for the railroad for 50 years.
