Billings Woman Sues Neighbors Over Dog Bites

By Beacon Staff

BILLINGS – A Billings woman who was attacked by a next door neighbor’s three dogs in July has filed a lawsuit against the neighbors.

Laurah Peron’s suit contends that her neighbors, Ricardo Cortez and Leon Garcia, were negligent when their three boxers attacked her in her yard.

The complaint seeks unspecified damages for medical costs, lost income, general damages for pain, suffering and physical disfigurement. The lawsuit also contends Peron suffered property damages when the boxers attacked her sheltie, and it seeks punitive damages for “actual malice.”

The suit says Peron was bitten numerous times and underwent treatment for rabies.

Garcia later pleaded guilty in Billings Municipal Court to having potentially dangerous dogs and having dogs at large. He was ordered to pay $430 in fines.
