36 Arrested in Fort Peck Drug Bust

By Beacon Staff

POPLAR – Law enforcement officers from several agencies arrested three dozen people in a drug bust on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.

Roosevelt County Sheriff Freedom Crawford says the drug bust included more than 50 officers from his agency, the Fort Peck Tribal Police and the Wolf Point Police Department.

Crawford says an investigation into suspected illegal sales of prescription pills began last April. He says drugs being resold included oxycontin, hydrocodone and morphine.

He says though 36 people were arrested Monday — all expected to be arraigned in tribal court this week — investigators believe the number of prescription pill dealers in the region is in the hundreds.
