A 63-year-old Flathead County man has died from complications of contracting the H1N1 flu, according to the Flathead City-County Health Department.
The health department also reported that 18 people have died of the disease in Montana and an estimated 10,000 have died nationwide.
There is also a voluntary national recall on 800,000 doses of the injectable vaccine produced by Sanofi Pasteur. The vaccine in question is safe, health officials said, but the concern is due to inadequate vaccine strength. Flathead County received 300 doses of this vaccine, and health department officials reported that none of it was administered.
“We still have all 300 doses in our refrigerator and will dispose of it as directed by the CDC,” said Joe Russell, County Health Officer.
