Man Arrested for Truck Theft, Stabbing

A man was arrested in Kalispell on Monday evening for assault with a weapon and theft of a motor vehicle after he allegedly tried to steal another man’s pickup truck.

The Kalispell Police dispatch received a call from the victim that a man was stealing his pickup. According to police reports, Dennis Cartwright, 47, allegedly stabbed the victim twice in the arm after the victim chased him on foot. The Kalispell Police Department apprehended Cartwright on Fourth Avenue West at about 5 p.m.

The victim was treated for his injuries at Kalispell Regional Medical Center and released. The pickup was recovered, processed and released to its owner, according to Sgt. Jim Wardensky of the KPD.

Cartwright is incarcerated at the Flathead County Detention Center pending his initial appearance.
