Butte native and Montana Sen. Jon Tester’s chief of staff Stephanie Schriock has been tapped to head Emily’s List, a fundraising network that raises money for electing Democratic women who support abortion rights. The 36-year-old Schriock will replace the founder and president of Emily’s List, Ellen R. Malcolm. From a press release:

“Stephanie very quickly earns the respect of everyone she meets because she’s a darn good leader and a great person to work with,” said U.S. Senator Jon Tester (D-Montana). “She’s got the drive, the smarts and the work ethic it takes for success in anything she does. Although she’ll be sorely missed in my office, her passion for doing what’s right will serve our entire country –and our kids and grandkids – for the better.”

Schriock is considered a rising political star in Washington, D.C., and is credited with turning around Minnesota Sen. Al Franken’s faltering campaign last May and overseeing the lengthy legal battle that followed.
