How’s That Health Care Bill Coming?

By Beacon Staff

Democratic leaders in the House and Senate have been meeting this week to iron out their differences in health care legislation. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the two sides are “very close” to an agreement. But Montana Sen. Max Baucus, who helped craft the Senate’s version of the bill, was a little more cautious Thursday. From Politico:

Arriving back at his office after meeting with President Barack Obama, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) said the health care negotiations are progressing, but they have a lot of differences yet to work out.

“We are moving well,” Baucus told a small group of reporters Thursday night. “We’ve got a lot to cover. The bills are quite a bit different.”

This may take longer than many people expect.
