HELENA – Attorney General Steve Bullock says refund checks are in the mail for consumers who were left without cell phone service when AirTEL Wireless abruptly shut down last February.
Attorneys in Bullock’s office filed a lawsuit against the Minnesota-based company last summer, saying it continued to sell services even though it knew it was going out of business. The state reached a a nearly $77,000 settlement with the company.
Bullock says checks have been mailed to about 2,000 customers who purchased monthly cell phone plans or prepaid phones with AirTEL in the month prior to the closure.
