Baucus: Meeting ‘Reinforced Momentum’ on Health Care

By Beacon Staff

After meeting with his colleagues in the Senate Thursday, Montana Democratic Sen. Max Baucus said that not only is health care legislation not dead, but legislation could be hammered out by spring. From Politico:

Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) said the meeting provided “reinforced momentum, reinforced commitment,” but he also suggested Democrats may not finish a bill until the spring or summer.

“We’re not going to put it down,” Baucus said. “I’m not saying it’s going to be done tomorrow. But I’m also saying it’s going to be done before spring, summer. We’re moving expeditiously. And expeditiously means quickly, solidly, thoughtfully.”

Keep in mind, health care deadlines have a tendency to be missed.
