BOZEMAN – Nearly a year after a natural gas explosion destroyed half a city block in downtown Bozeman, two businessmen have a plan for a building that would fill part of the void.
Ralph Ferraro and Mike Hope have submitted a proposal to the city to build a two- or three-story building that would house the Rockin’ R Bar, the Pickle Barrel sandwich shop and a newcomer, Santa Fe Red’s. Hope, vice president of operations for the Rockin’ R, says the businesses would like to reopen by March 2011.
Santa Fe Red’s owner Jared Bratsky says the original Santa Fe Red’s is a family-oriented restaurant, while the downtown location would be a bit more upscale and cater to the younger, late-night crowd.
The new Rockin’ R would be built in the space that once held the Montana Trails Gallery and part of Boodle’s restaurant. Both businesses moved to other locations on East Main Street.
