BOZEMAN – Bozeman commissioners have asked the city’s planning department, police and legal staff to compile a list of concerns about medical marijuana so they can discuss the possibility of temporarily restricting the local industry.
Interim Police Chief Marty Kent said Thursday that concerns are beginning to mount about the possibility of medical marijuana businesses popping up in the middle of residential neighborhoods. He says he wants city officials to temporarily ban new medical marijuana businesses until they examine whether restrictions should be established.
Kalispell, Billings, Whitefish, Lewiston and Great Falls are among the cities that have placed a moratorium on such businesses while they decide zoning issues.
Bozeman commissioners say they hope to have the list of concerns ready for discussion at their March 1 meeting.
