The man who provided medical marijuana to a 49-year-old Kalispell man who was beaten to death last week says Wesley Collins was using marijuana to try to wean himself from prescription pain medication.
Robert Cates says Collins’ death wasn’t about medical marijuana, but his pain medication. Cates charges that the two suspects arrested in Collins’ death had been visiting Collins and stealing his pain medication for a couple of months.
Kalispell Police Chief Roger Nasset says investigators have several stories for what the robbery was about, but he says it involved marijuana, money and other belongings. Nasset says a tool was used to bludgeon Collins, but he did not say what the murder weapon was.
Collins’ body was found Saturday in a wooded area northwest of Kalispell.
