Whitefish High School took third place at this year’s High School Business Challenge put on by the Montana Chamber Foundation.
Jake Rogers, Alex Fuehrer and Joel Mallams participated in an eight-week business simulation during which 56 different high school teams across the state managed a simulated Blue Ray media manufacturing and marketing company. They competed in a marketplace against the other schools, making decisions in real time, including several case studies with similarities to real situations faced by actual businesses.
The winners were determined in part by their business’ ending stock price. Heritage Christian High School of Bozeman and Melstrone High School in Melstrone tied for first place with an ending stock price of $119.95 per share.
Whitefish High finished with an ending stock price of $115.55 per share.

High School Business Challenge is a statewide business education program offered to any High School in Montana. The spring 2010 enrollment hit a record high of 781 students (up 10.5% from spring 2009) that learn key business skills which help them make important career and personal decisions upon graduation.
