Death of Man Who Fell from Amtrak Train a Mystery

By Beacon Staff

HELENA – The Lincoln County sheriff’s office has been unable to determine how the body of an Amtrak passenger ended up near the tracks in northwestern Montana.

A BNSF track crew discovered the body of 51-year-old Agostinho Carlos Sadi of Lacrosse, Wis., west of Troy early in the afternoon of Aug. 18.

Detective Boyd White says Sadi fell from the westbound Empire Builder while it was moving at a high rate of speed, but investigators have not been able to determine the circumstances.

White says Sadi was an immigrant from Mozambique who was traveling to Chico, Calif., where he had enrolled in college.

White says there are no reports that anyone on the train saw anything suspicious when Sadi disappeared at around 1 a.m. on Aug. 18. He says the investigation is wrapped up unless someone comes forward with a lead.
