One man is dead and another was taken into custody after a weekend altercation at an apartment in Evergreen, just northeast of Kalispell.
The Flathead County sheriff’s office says 55-year-old Gerald Payne died after falling down some stairs Saturday evening.
Sheriff Chuck Curry tells KECI-TV that Payne and 54-year-old David Day were involved in a fight when Payne fell, suffering what appeared to be head and neck injuries. He was pronounced dead at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
Day was arrested on suspicion of criminal endangerment, but Curry says those charges could change after the investigation is completed.
