By Beacon Staff

GREAT FALLS — A traffic crash in north-central Montana has killed one person and injured seven, including four children.

The Montana Highway Patrol says the collision happened Tuesday at the intersection of a frontage road and Montana Highway 44, near Conrad. The patrol says a 65-year-old man pulled out in front of a car driven by a 47-year-old woman.

Pondera County officials say Robert John Kirby of Brady died in the crash. Three people in his car were hurt, including two children.

A woman in Kirby’s car was hospitalized in Great Falls, while a 9-year-old girl was flown to a hospital in Spokane, Wash., where she was listed in critical condition.

Trooper Mike Jenson says the other car was driven by Kathleen Swan of Whitefish. Her passengers were 49-year-old Margret Davis, 9-year-old Levi Wilson and 8-year-old Seth Wilson.

Swan is being treated at a Seattle hospital for unknown injuries. The others in the car were treated and released.
