Voisin Earns Silver in Slopestyle at
2018 Olympic Venue
On the other side of the world, Maggie Voisin continued her high- ying come- back, earning silver in the o cial Olym- pic freeskiing slopestyle test event for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games.
The White sh skier captured her  rst World Cup podium and was the lone American competitor to qualify for the  nals in South Korea. Voisin landed a score of 84.60 in her  rst run in South Korea, which ended up second best. Tiril Sjaastad Christiansen of Norway won with a top score of 91.60.
“I haven’t been on a podium due to inju- ries for two years now,” Voisin, a member of the 2014 U.S. Olympic team, told U.S. Freeskiing. “Adding on that it’s the Olym- pic test event, it’s huge. I’m super excited. I went in with con dence and hoped for the best so I’m super happy.”
After missing the last two winters of competition, Voisin is back to being one of the top freeskiers in the world. She placed fourth at X Games Aspen and  fth in the Big Air event in Boston’s Fenway Park. She hopes to be back in South Korea in two years for the 2018 Olympics.
Until then, she’ll be busy.
Voisin’s world tour now takes her to Oslo, Norway where the 17-year-old will compete in the X Games international event. The women’s big air  nals are slated for Feb. 27 and will be televised on ESPN3 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Mountain time.
Glacier Babe Ruth Accepting Signups
for Summer
Glacier Babe Ruth is accepting signups for players ages 13 through 15 years old for the upcoming baseball season.
The deadline to sign up for the youth baseball league is March 1. Families should visitglacierbaberuth.com and print out registration forms and mail them to PO Box 1079, Columbia Falls, MT 59912.
Glacier Babe Ruth started in 1981 as White sh, Columbia Falls and Bigfork formed one of the best Babe Ruth pro- grams in the state. In its  rst three years of existence, the 15U Glacier Babe Ruth team appeared in the 1983 World Series in Frederick, Maryland after winning the regional tournament in Wheatland, Wyoming.
Glacier Babe Ruth continues to put together strong league play and a very competitive all star team for ages 13-15. With numerous state championships, regional tournaments are very common for Glacier Babe Ruth.
Last year the Glacier 15U team
advanced to the World Series in Tennessee.
Former Braves to be Inducted into
Legends Wall of Fame
The Wall of Fame at Legends Stadium is gaining two new faces.
Former Flathead High School stand- outs Frank Cabbage and Je  Epperly are joining 26 other inductees. The induc- tion ceremony is Feb. 26 at the Glacier High Gymnasium during the crosstown basketball game between Glacier and Flathead.
The Legends Stadium Selection Com- mittee reviewed and discussed six nomi- nations for the Class of 2016.
Cabbage graduated from Flathead County High School in 1958.
In football, Cabbage was team captain and quarterbacked the Braves his junior and senior years. His senior year he led the team against the Billings West Broncs, running for four touchdowns and passing for two touchdowns. As well as quarter- back, he also played linebacker, defensive back, safety, punter and punt returner.
Cabbage played guard on the Braves basketball team for three years and was selected to the all-state  rst team as a senior.
In track and  eld he threw the javelin and placed second at the Montana State Class AA Track and Field Champion- ship as a sophomore and captured state championships in the javelin as a junior and senior. His senior year he won the Class AA state javelin event with a throw of 191-5.75.
Epperly graduated from Flathead High School in 1981. He was a three-sport star at FHS. He led the Braves football team to the 1980 Class AA State Championship game as quarterback.
Considered one of best all-around bas- ketball players ever at Flathead, Epperly scored over 1,100 points in two seasons for a 24 points per game average, as well as leading the team in rebounding and assists. He was a member of the 1981 Co-Western AA Conference basketball champs and a member of the fourth place team in the 1981 Class AA State Basket- ball Tournament. He was selected by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association as an All-American in bas- ketball in 1981.
In track and  eld, Epperly broke the school’s 20-year high jump record, leap- ing 6-7. He placed all four years in the high jump at the Class AA state track meet, competing for and attending Butte High School his  rst two years.
