Mother Nature,
With all due respect,
we are not fooled by your latest antics, or lack thereof, we know well that winter is still here. We Montanans, and all other adventure-seeking visitors presently inhab-
Mountain for over eight decades. That’s a lot of ski fashion eras! All of them are wel- come on the slopes on Saturday, March 14 for the 2nd annual Ski Heritage Days. Celebrate our deep-rooted skiing heritage in your retro gear; enter the Retro-Race or the Best Vintage Outfit contest.
8. Post a selfie in front of the Elk- weed sign (#findwinter #findelkweed #ski- whitefish). One of my favorite characteris- tics about this mountain is the off-piste goodness. When I say goodness I mean powder stashes, and favorite lines in the trees that require a guide to help you find them until you get good enough to know where to go on your own. One of these spots also has its own sign, the Elkweed sign, which is another one of my favor- ite characteristics of The Big: #random. What’s your favorite spot on the moun- tain? Go there, take a selfie and share it with us! #skiwhitefish
9. Find a new favorite off Flower Point. Talk about favorite places in the trees... I’m still exploring areas off-piste accessed by the new Flower Point Chair. On-piste has been fun too, all the new runs have their own particular feel and often you get to ski one to the other. My favorite has to be One Grand Parade for its postcard-worthy view of the lake.
10. Make a fun “day in the life” vid- eo about skiing on the mountain (send us the link and we’ll share it). Our Snow Reporters have fun making a video every day for your viewing pleasure. Every once in a while someone will send us a video they produced of their day or vacation on the mountain. Send us yours and we will share it on Facebook and YouTube. Email me: [email protected].

ear Jack Frost, Old ski/ride on matching vintage gear). Ski- Man Winter, Ullr and ers have been making tracks on The Big
iting this Great State, are well aware that the snows will return. Until then we will continue to pursue those winter adven- tures that include but are not limited to the following top 10 things to do before winter ends:
1. Last chance for Night Skiing! Two nights remain to take advantage of the op- portunity to make late day turns. We’ll be turning back the clocks Sunday, however this Friday and Saturday the sun will set around 6:30 p.m. so play your cards right and be on the slopes to watch it go down. Be a cool dad or mom and take the kids skiing with their buddies and you can kick back with a beer and listen to the “free- style” soul sounds of the one man band Dan Dubuque while the kids leave you to it as they engage in a foosball and French fry frenzy.
2. Do a self-imposed biathlon or tri- athlon... ski & (fill in the blank—another activity or two) in one day. I don’t mind seeing my fellow Montanans busting out their bikes and dusting off their paddle boards. Runners and hikers have been seeking out the trails and a few diehards are swinging sticks on the links in Polson. Who I really admire are those who will ski on the mountain and partake in another favorite sport in one day.
3. Go to a Whitefish Winter Classic Event. Our community knows how to step up and lend a hand when there’s some-
one in need, and we know how much we love to have a good time, this is an event where you can do both simultaneously. Thursday’s Poker Run (a downtown pub crawl with prizes), Friday’s “Meet the Play- ers” (autograph session on the mountain with NFL players at the Summit House), Saturday’s Gala (at the Lodge at Whitefish Lake), or Sunday’s Champagne Brunch (at the Whitefish Lake Restaurant). For more details visit whitefishwinterclassic.org.
4. Take a snow day (apologies to bosses). You don’t need to have a pow- der day to make an excuse to head to the mountain. You work hard and deserve a break every once in a while. Treat yourself to a day on the mountain, ski bell-to-bell, and cap the day off with a little après ski.
5. Head to Glacier. If mid-winter blahs are getting you down, and you don’t have
time for a road trip, get out of town by spending a day in Glacier. Take a day and go for a snowshoe, cross-country ski, backcountry tour or just chill out by a lake. For the ones who really need a getaway the Polebridge Mercantile is open this winter, and you can rent a cabin. Maybe you’ll get to see the Northern Lights!
6. Take advantage of the sale at Snow Ghost Outfitters. Need new skis? Or have you wanted a new jacket? Up- grade your gear or freshen up your ward- robe at Snow Ghost Outfitters. They just made great deals even better: take 30% off skis, helmets, jackets, pants, base layers and many other winter items. Every- one deserves an upgrade a season, stop in and find yours.
7. Find a vintage outfit and wear it March 14 (bonus points to those who
