Police say Sejla Herbert of Missoula was killed by a self- inflicted gunshot wound during a fight with her husband

A Missoula woman died of an apparent self-inflict- ed gunshot wound on March 13 during a scuffle with her estranged husband in southwest Kalispell, accord- ing to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Chuck Curry identified the woman as 30-year-old Sejla Herbert.
According to law enforcement, a disturbance was reported at 425 Valley View Drive at about 5:25 p.m. Witnesses say Herbert had obtained a gun prior to vis- iting her estranged husband, Russell Herbert, 35, of Kalispell. During an argument at the home, Sejla Her- bert took out a small pistol and fired several rounds, one of which struck her husband in the lower abdomen.
Russell Herbert was able to escape the scene and went next door to ask someone to call 911. He then went back outside where he confronted his wife and a strug- gle ensued over the gun. During the struggle, Sejla Her- bert was fatally shot in the head. Witnesses at the scene told police that it was a self-inflicted wound.
Both people were taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center where Sejla Herbert was pronounced dead. Russell Herbert was released March 14, hospital officials said.
The couple had two children together, both of whom
were at the house at the time of the shooting.
