BARING YOUR OWN FUN

in places like Seattle and Spokane claiming that this winter was lost. This alarm-
Riley Polumbus ing fact inspired our crack marketing team to hold an emergency meeting to address the issue. Our strategy was an aggressive social media cam- paign to let the world know that Whitefish Moun- tain Resort had plenty of snow. Snow Reporters were instructed to shoot photos of our snow conditions and post images with the hashtags
#findwinter #skiwhitefish.
We are quite certain that this strategy, like
the cover of Sports Illustrated curse, hurt our chances of bringing back winter. That’s right. It’s our fault. Sorry. I’m excited to announce that we’ve made a new strategy: #winterisinvited #funtotheend #skiwhitefish.
Since 1947 this mountain has been a place for skiers to come and not only ski, it’s a place where people can come and have a good time. For over six decades, with one lift or 14, with a dozen runs or over 100, in both snowfall excel- lence and mediocrity, this place is always fun. Skiing is about more than just the snow, and regardless of this year’s total, we have a ski season to finish on April 12th and we are going to #finishstrong!
You are cordially invited to the 2015 FUN season! You, your family and all of your friends, and anyone else you know who thinks being on a mountain is one of the best places to be: We are having a party and we want you to come! Winter is invited too, whether it comes or not, we want you. The snow is here, there’s enough to last, and the #funisguaranteed.
Let’s talk about the snow for a minute and
and watch the Dummy Derby: a demolition derby on skis where unmanned dummies descend a slope and fly off a jump to crash spectacularly into a pit to the delight of the crowd.
If you are looking for one last hurrah this sea- son you can participate by building a Dummy, or show off your skiing and skimming skills at the Pond Skim on April 11th. Both events promise to be fun for the participants and spectators, so that we can celebrate the end of another winter, and go out with a bang! #SkithefishtillApril12.

RILEY’S ROUTE ON FLOWER POINT
Lucky me it’s been my job to show people around out there and I’ve come up with this sweet little circuit: First, get on the chair, and as you get close to the top be sure to turn around a bit to admire the view. Get off the lift and head over to the boundary line and admire the view, take pictures, take selfies, etc. Now start skiing! Go down Ridge Run and enjoy the high elevation north aspect. Go down Outside Road to North Fork and back to the lift. High five a lifty. Ride lift and unload to the right. Go down Inside Road to Big Creek and back to the lift. Ride up, unload right again and head to the top of One Grand Parade. Take one photo and/or selfie from the top with lake in the back- ground. Ski down to the Bigfoot T-Bar. Ride the T-Bar and head to Whiskey Spring. There, you did it all!
Springtime fun brainstorm session.
when I say snow I mean our grooming team. Every night from before dusk and after dawn a dozen men are out there sustaining the slopes with their mad skills. Their talent, our terrain and annual investment in the cause is why we can have so much fun day after day. High fives and hugs to this crew. We love you. #Whitefish- groomersrock!
I’d like to make another point about our snow: Flower Point. One of our top reasons for putting another lift out there was to take advan- tage of early and late season snow. Man, talk about good timing! There you go, we made our point. Back to the fun.
Spring skiing has it all: sun, snow, rain, sun, powder and all that can be covered in one after- noon. Anything can happen at any time and so
we all must be prepared for any and all condi- tions as well as any and all fun. Dress up in silly costumes, have a tailgate party in the parking lot, bring beach chairs, beach balls and hula hoops. The lifts will only run for so long and then it’s see you next year. So join in on the fun.
In addition to coming up with your own fun, your presence is welcome at our upcoming events. This weekend is the Nate Chute Banked Slalom and Boardercross, widely recognized for being a great competition for a worthy cause with an aloha vibe. Come April we serve up our usual fun with the Dummy Derby and Mountain Brewfest on Saturday, April 4. This year’s Brew- fest will be one of the biggest ever with 15 brew- eries already signed up, and tickets are only $20 presale and $25 day of the event. It’s a
