12 | JUNE 3, 2015 NEWS OIL CONTAINMENT TRAINING EXERCISES
FLATHEADBEACON.COM
As part of a training exercise, officials with BNSF Railway, the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service and Montana Department of Environmental Quality deploy a boom along Moccasin Creek east of West Glacier on May 29. Last week’s exercise was the second time in a year that the railroad
and government agencies gathered to test booms along the Middle Fork of the Flathead River corridor as the railroad moves more carloads of North Dakota crude oil through the area. According to information recently released by the state of Montana, BNSF moves eight to 12 trainloads of oil through Glacier, Flathead and Lincoln counties every week.
