Martin City Man Sentenced for Stealing Guns, Ammo
A Martin City man was given a sev- en-year suspended sentence to the Mon- tana Department of Corrections seven months after he stole nearly two-dozen weapons and thousands of rounds of ammunition from a home in Kila.
Tucker Mathis appeared at a sentenc- ing hearing on July 14 in Flathead County District Court. Mathis was also given a second, two-year suspended sentence for a parole violation from a previous con- viction that will run consecutively to the theft sentence.
Mathis had initially denied the alle- gations of felony theft earlier this year but in May he pleaded guilty.
According to court records, a plow truck driver reported that a home in Kila appeared to have been broken into on Dec. 19, 2015. When law enforce- ment arrived they found that the home and two outbuildings were ransacked.
Authorities contacted the homeowner, who was out of town, but later returned to determine what was stolen. The home- owner reported that nearly 24 rearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition were missing. Authorities later identi ed Mathis as a suspect and interviewed him on Dec. 23. According to court records, Mathis admitted to making at least three trips to the house to steal guns and ammunition.

Angel then got into his car and left the scene, but not before someone reported his license plate number. A short while later, a Montana Highway Trooper tried to pull Angel over but he sped north. Angel allegedly drove through downtown Kalispell at speeds up to 55 miles per hour, nearly causing two di erent acci- dents. North of Kalispell, Angel allegedly hit speeds of more than 80 miles per hour. He was nally stopped in White sh where local police deployed a spike strip on U.S. Highway 93.
If convicted of felony criminal endan- germent or misdemeanor assault, Angel could face up to 10 years in prison and a
