Municipal Matters
A recap of recent city council and county commission meetings
WHITEFISH
• Whitefish experienced a dangerous lightning storm July 3 that caused significant damage to the city’s Wa- ter Treatment Plant on Reservoir Road, according to city manager Chuck Stearns. Several strikes hit trees by the train depot and on Co- lumbia Avenue, Stearns said, and an electrical surge from the lightning travelled through wiring, damaging control panels and several wiring stations throughout the treatment plant and adjacent outbuildings. Repairs are expected to greatly ex- ceed the city’s $2,500 insurance deductable, Stearns said. The city is planning to install wireless com- munications between the facilities.
