SMOKE
Heavy haze covered the
Flathead Valley late last week as massive wildfires ripped across Washington and Oregon making it hard to breathe for sensitive groups. Much of the smoke cleared out Sunday.
SHOOTING
Two suspects in a shooting and robbery last week along Interstate 90 in Missoula County were arrested in Seattle on July 21. Katherine Grace Evans, 34, and Troy Anthony Miller, 30, are accused of attempted deliberate homicide and robbery. The victim’s name or condition has not been released.
GAZA
Fourteen days after armed conflict in the Gaza Strip began, at least 500 Palestinians and 25 Israeli soldiers were dead, as of July 21. Israel began a large offensive against Hamas on July 8 and began a major ground invasion on July 17.
BUS BABY
A Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy and two Tribal Clinic workers in Elmo helped deliver a healthy baby boy after his mother went into labor while riding a bus on July 15.

Called the Center for Applied Media, Arts and Sciences, or CAMAS, the new $2.89 million facility stands poised to become a state-of-the-art hub of theater, music and technology studies at the revamped Whitefish High School.
Shawn Watts, a Whitefish School District trustee, said the ac- ronym CAMAS is significant because it is also a robust and vibrant wildflower native to Montana.
