WEEKEND OUTLOOK

TIMAE TO TOAST TO SUMMER’S END
ing induces mild panic. It’s perfectly normal to feel this way, and the
best way to get over the feeling is to cel- ebrate summer’s end by attending at least one of the two events in Depot Park this weekend. ese two events, the White sh Trail Hootenanny and the S.N.O.W. Bus Summer Brewfest, attract fun-loving folks and represent end-of-summer fun. And because they are so fun and raise money for great causes I double dog dare you to attend both.
First let’s talk about Friday evening 5-9 p.m.... e Hootenanny. is event
is fun for all ages and will feature three bands, food trucks, local cra beer, kids activities including a bike obstacle course and climbing wall and a ra e for fabu- lous prizes like airline tickets or a stand up paddleboard. All that for $12 or $15
at the door unless you are 12 years old and younger and then it’s free. Plus, and
I mean this, you get to tell everyone you know, “I’m going to the Hootenanny!” It’s a hoot!
en let’s talk about Saturday a er- noon 3-7 p.m.... Summer Brewfest. You gotta like beer, there is that, because at
this event you will have the opportunity to try beers from 19 breweries. With admis- sion— $20 in advance or $25 at the door – you receive a souvenir glass and 10 tokens to exchange for your choice of beer. If you don’t like beer, or are under 21 years of
age but decide to go as a designated driver then admission is $5, water and so drinks will be available. Food vendors will also be there in case you need a bite to eat.
Do you like beer? Sample brews while supporting the S.N.O. W. Bus at Summer Brewfest.

As if the fun you will have is not enough, the added bonus of these two events is they raise money for community bene ts you probably use: the White sh Trail and the S.N.O.W. (Shuttle Network of White sh) Bus. We are so lucky to live in
a place that is beautiful and a ords us to recreate all year long. If we feel like it, we can take the dog and kids to the White sh Trail for a hike, or go trail running or mountain biking. Or you can hitch a ride to the mountain on the S.N.O.W. Bus in the winter OR the summer. Because we are so lucky to be able to use these things for FREE anytime we want, it’s good karma to give back.
Some of you reading this may be from out of town and have yet to take advantage of our amazing trail system over 36 miles in length. You might not know that the or- ganization behind these trails, the White- sh Legacy Partners, and their e orts
help preserve clean water, public access, recreation, thriving forests, uncluttered views and wildlife around our commu- nity. Or the free bus ride up and down the
mountain that drops you o close to where you are living and playing so you don’t need to have a car. Even if you will not use these wonderful resources you can feel good about going because it’s a good cause.
Come sunshine or rain we’ll gather
at Depot Park this weekend to eat, drink and be entertained by live music with family, friends and other fun-loving folks who may become new friends. We’ll be do-se-doing up a storm at the Hootenanny with the folksy/Americana sounds of Je Austin, e Hasslers and Moonshine Mountain Friday night. en on Saturday sip new brews while grooving to the blues with the Andre Floyd Trio.
As summer winds down these events are the perfect way to raise a glass and toast the end of one season and the com- ing of the next. Supporting the White sh Trail at the Hootenanny for all the fun you had on the trails this summer and supporting the S.N.O.W. Bus by doing your part drinking beers helps to guaran- tee we’ll have free rides to and from the mountain this winter.
