Schulz, Whitefish Girls Bring Home State Golf Trophies
Coral Schulz and the Whitefish girls maintained their dominance in Class A golf.
The Whitefish senior captured her sec- ond consecutive Class A girls state cham- pionship and helped the Lady Bulldogs bring home the team trophy once again.
Schulz fired a 76-80—156 at the Sid- ney Country Club Oct. 2-3 to win by five strokes. Whitefish scored 720 to beat Sid- ney, 759. It was the Lady Bulldogs second consecutive title.
Whitefish’s Katie Fyall shot 86-84— 170 to place third. Hayley Hileman shot 94-103—197 for 13th and Holly Hileman carded 97-100 — 197 for 14th.
The Whitefish boys claimed third place as a team, 679. Liam Clancy won the individual title, 75-74— 149 to lead Bill- ings Central to its first title since 2003. The Rams scored 650. Hamilton placed second, 662.
Whitefish’s Cole Turgeon placed 12th, 82-84— 166, and Joey Walp earned 13th, 85-81—166.
Polson’s Carson McDaniel placed 15th, 79-88— 167.
Glacier’s Mann Wins AA Boys Golf Championship
Glacier’s Tom Mann fired a 3-under 69 on back-to-back days to win the Class AA boys golf championship in Helena on Oct. 2.
Mann edged Billings West’s Joey Moore by two strokes at Bill Roberts Golf Course.
Flathead’s Ryan Keenan placed sixth, carding 70-74—144. Billings West scored 580 as a team, breaking the new AA state record. The 2004 Billings West team held the previously best score of 586.
In the girls tournament, Hayden Flohr of Billings West edged Glacier’s Teigan Avery. Flohr shot 4-under 68 on Satur- day to unseat two-time defending champ Avery. Flohr came back after shooting 76

on Thursday and broke Avery’s 2013 state record low score of 145 by one stroke. Avery shot 73-73 — 146 to place second.
The Glacier girls placed second as a team. McKenna Tinseth placed eighth, 84-83—167.
The Great Falls girls won with 664.
Football Roundup: Flathead Celebrates Homecoming Week
It’s homecoming week for Flathead High School.
The Braves (4-2) football team hosts Butte (1-5) on Friday night. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. inside Legends Stadium. The school will have a parade down Main Street starting at 4 p.m., Friday.
Josh McCracken rushed for 186 yards and three touchdowns in Flathead’s 63-6 win over Missoula Hellgate on Oct. 2. Quarterback Bridger Johnson passed for 191 yards and three TDs.
Glacier held off Missoula Sentinel 42-31 last Friday to win its fourth game in a row and improve to 4-2. Thomas Tref- ney rushed for 180 yards and four TDs, including a pair in the fourth quarter after Sentinel led 31-28.
The Wolfpack travel to Great Falls to play C.M. Russell (4-2).
Whitefish blanked Polson 49-0 and jumped atop the Northwestern A stand- ings last Friday. Bulldog quarterback Luke May passed for 173 yards, rushed for 104 yards and connected on three touchdowns. Chris Park rushed in a pair of scores to go along with a TD catch. Jed Nagler had two scores and 80 yards receiving.
The Bulldogs (5-1 overall, 1-0 in con- ference) plays at rival Columbia Falls (2-2, 0-0) on Friday night.
Columbia Falls fell to Dillon last week, 48-20. Wildcat quarterback Dakota Bridwell passed for 205 yards and three TDs.
Bigfork (2-3, 0-1) was idle last week and plays at Western 7B foe Libby (0-4, 0-2).
