Belgrade Holds o Columbia Falls in Soccer Semi nal
Belgrade scored three goals in the sec- ond half and held o a late rally attempt by Columbia Falls to notch a 4-2 victory in Saturday’s semi nal round of the Class A boys soccer playo s.
The Panthers’ road victory secured a trip to Corvallis to play for the state championship. The loss ended Columbia Falls’ season at 11-2-1.
Senior Logan Stephens capped his impressive prep career with one nal goal, ending his season total at 17. Senior exchange student Jon Sigurdsson had a goal and assist. Goalkeeper Brandon Karberg made 10 saves. Belgrade outshot Columbia Falls 15-7.
Columbia Falls ended its best season in a decade by winning the Northern A conference title and nishing one match shy of the state title game.
Belgrade (12-2) will play Corvallis (14- 0) for the championship on Oct. 29.
In the girls playo s, Billings Central edged Polson in an overtime shootout in the semi nals, winning 3-2. During reg- ulation, Tiara Duford, Ashley Howell and Janessa Taylor each scored for Polson.
Billings Central advanced to the state championship and will host Laurel.
Glacier Boys Advance to State Soccer Tournament in Kalispell
The Glacier boys edged Flathead 2-1 in a crosstown playo match last week to advance to this week’s Class AA state tournament in Kalispell.
Parker Bedard and Rohit Tappeta each scored for the Wolfpack, and goal- keeper Andrew Lorenc stopped six shots to secure the playo victory. Hanson Eystad scored for Flathead; Micah Bucy made ve saves.
Glacier secured a No. 4 seed at this week’s tournament and will play Boze- man at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The AA boys and girls state soccer tournaments are at Kidsports Complex Oct. 27-29.

Football Roundup: Columbia Falls to Host Playo Game, Bigfork on the Road

The Wildcats nished the regular sea- son with familiar reworks and regained their momentum rolling into the Class A playo s.
Columbia Falls piled up 475 yards of o ense, including 192 rushing. Seth Gos- sett rushed 12 times for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Dakota Bridwell was 14 of 16 for 283 yards and three touchdowns. He connected with Trevor Hoerner, Steven DeCamp and Sean Miller on scoring drives. Miller n- ished with 118 yards, and Hoerner had 40. Austin Green returned an interception 37 yards for a score, and Colton McPhee and KJ Arends each added rushing TDs.
Columbia Falls (7-1) has the No. 2 seed from Northwestern A in the Class A state playo s and will host Corvallis (4-5) on Friday, Oct. 28 in the opening round. Kicko is at 7 p.m. The winner will travel to Sidney (8-1) the following week.
Polson (7-1) clinched the Northwest- ern A title and a bye in the rst round of the playo s. The Pirates will host the winner of Billings Central (6-2) and Miles City (4-5) the following week.
In other action, Hamilton (6-3) is host- ing Butte Central (4-5) this week, and Lewistown (6-2) is hosting Laurel (5-3).
Bigfork Travels to Fair eld in Class B Playo s
The Vikings are on a championship quest in the Class B playo s, which begins this week with 16 teams remaining.
Bigfork (7-1) travels 200 miles to Fair- eld to play the defending state champs in a rst-round game on Saturday. Kicko is at 1 p.m.
Eureka, the Western 7B champs at 7-1, hosts Malta (5-3). Ronan (5-4) travels to Columbus (5-3). Missoula Loyola (8-0) hosts Baker (6-2). Glasgow (6-2) hosts Colstrip (8-1). Manhattan (6-1) hosts Roundup (4-4). Huntley Project (8-0) hosts Shelby (6-2). Cut Bank (6-2) hosts Whitehall (8-1).

Tadan Gilman scored three touch- downs in the third quarter and the Wolf- pack defense limited the Braves to 155 yards of o ense in the 10th annual cross- town football game last Friday.
Flathead (3-6), which has been elimi- nated from playo contention, wraps up the regular season on the road against Missoula Sentinel (5-4) on Friday night. Glacier (8-1), which is tied for second place in the Class AA standings, hosts Missoula Big Sky (5-4). Kicko is at 7 p.m.

The Broncs jumped ahead 20-0 in the rst quarter and fended o the Bulldogs in the regular-season nale.
White sh’s season ended at 3-6 overall.
