SECOND STREET PIZZA OWNERS REVIVING LATIN FUSION RESTAURANT
The owners of Second Street Pizza are bringing back an old favorite to downtown White sh with their revival of Mama Blan- ca’s, a popular restaurant featur- ing Puerto Rican and Cuban fare.
Owners Dave and Susan Sheeran operated the Latin-fu- sion eatery for 18 months at 306 E. Second St. before convert- ing the space to Second Street Pizza eight years ago during the recession.
But Mama Blanca’s has found new purchase in White sh’s down- town center, and the Sheerans hope to open their doors Nov. 30 at the Remington Bar and Casino at 130 Central Ave. They’ll take over the space left vacant by La Hacienda and the short-lived Shooter’s.
Named after Susan’s mother, Blanca Hernandez, the restaurant will o er similar menu items that were popular at its original location – Mexican-style grilled corn, authentic Cuban sandwiches and shrimp Diablo.
“The roast pork is what makes the Cuban sandwiches. We marinade it for three days, roast it for 10 hours, add Swiss cheese, pickles, brush it with a little garlic butter,” Dave Sheeran said. “It’s the bomb.”
The restaurant will be open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.
