The place where time stands still
S itting atop a beach blanket, our family assembled together tightly like human puzzle pieces. We are
gathered here with dozens of other camp- ers to watch the Fourth of July fireworks over the calm lake. In the distance Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” can be heard. The air is silent with the ex- ception of small waves lapping on the shore. The scores of children heard laughing and frolicking on this once-chaotic day are now all tired and sun-washed, and look on anx- iously as we all await another aerial display. Welcome to Lake Five – the place where time stood still.
For nearly 100 years, families from Montana, Canada and all across the coun- try have been coming to Lake Five Resort to escape the trappings of the world and re-
