bar could open by mid- summer in Hutton Ranch

The former Sizzler restaurant in Kalispell’s Hutton Ranch will be ren- ovated and transformed into a new Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar this summer, according to plans submitted to the city of Kalispell Planning De- partment.
Developers submitted final plans last week detailing the new restaurant and sports bar franchise. Crews will begin refashioning the 5,524-square- foot building and 869-square-foot pa- tio in the coming weeks with the goal of opening the restaurant by mid-sum- mer, according to city officials.
The plans include changing the in- terior and exterior of the building with a complete façade remodel and reno- vating the patio into a “three seasons patio,” according to city planner PJ So- rensen.
Founded in 1982, Buffalo Wild Wings is a restaurant franchise based in Minnesota that boasts a large menu featuring signature chicken wings and sauces and a full bar. There are over

The addition of Buffalo Wild Wings marks the latest commercial growth in the bustling north end of town. The new restaurant will be located next to
Sportsman & Ski Haus, Walmart and across the street from the emerging development near Kidsports Complex, which could include up to 14 new busi- nesses.

A recap of recent city council and county commission meetings
KALISPELL
• According to the city’s police department, as of April 1, the detective’s division has investigated 15 more files than at this time in 2014. The detectives have had 120 felony, domestic abuse and protection order violations referred to their division. Last year, the detective division investigated a total of 555 cases.
• Representatives from the City of Kalispell and Flathead County Eco- nomic Development Authority are traveling to Washington D.C. to participate in the U.S. Department of Transportation’s first TIGER Summit. The purpose of the all-day workshop is to provide technical assistance and best practices to TI- GER program grantees. Addition- ally, the representatives will partici- pate in five other meetings with key
stakeholders while in Washington. The 2015 USDOT TIGER grant is due June 5 and awards expected in September. The representatives are seeking approval of a federal grant that would help fund the develop- ment of an industrial rail yard and downtown revitalization project.
• The Street Tree Committee is plan- ning Kalispell’s Arbor Day on April 24. Roughly 300 third graders will rotate between 16 environmental booths learning about different as- pects of the environment. The com- munity is invited to attend the for- mal ceremony at 12:45 p.m. at Law- rence Park with Mayor Mark John- son and others.
• In the past two weeks, one single family house permit has been is- sued by the city. This brings the resi- dential total to 13 single-family and
two townhome building permits so far this year, compared to 22 sin- gle-family residences issued for the same time period in 2014.
WHITEFISH
• The City of Whitefish will be cele- brating Arbor Day on April 24, with the planting of trees at Riverside Park. The tree planting at Riverside Park will occur at 10 a.m. and will include assistance from students who attend Muldown Elementary School, along with school staff and volunteer parents. As well, the city will be officially recognized as a Tree City USA for the 20th consecu- tive year.
