YOGA HIVE AND EXHALE PILATES ARE FIND- ing ways to take their respective tness disci- plines outdoors on Saturday mornings at City Beach in White sh. While stand-up paddleboard yoga and stand-up paddleboard Pilates are di erent work- outs, they are both designed for all ability and tness levels.
“SUP Yoga is approachable for everyone – it is totally based on fun,” Mollie Busby, owner of Yoga Hive, said. Unlike yoga in a traditional setting, SUP yoga allows
its participants to enjoy nature.
“The added element of being on the board can be lib-
erating and challenging,” Busby said. “There is intense concentration on all parts of the body.”
SUP Pilates incorporates strength and uidity, with the added elements of balance and tranquility from being on the water.
“SUP Pilates is not as intimidating as most peo- ple might think,” Delia Buckmaster, owner of Exhale Pilates, said. “Most of the work does not require stand- ing on the board. They are done kneeling, sitting, or lying down.”
Both workouts present di erent challenges, but o er the pleasure of being outside on White sh Lake. Both business owners say that their SUP activities wouldn’t be possible without their partnerships with Paddle sh Sports, which provides the paddleboards.
The yoga class is o ered at White sh City Beach from 9 – 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays, while SUP Pilates is o ered immediately afterward from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
