1. Passenger in Rollover Dies
under the Endangered Species Act within the year.
The Missoulian reports that in a set- tlement with the Center for Biological Diversity, the federal agency agreed to make a decision by Sept. 30, 2016. The western glacier stonefly is one of 10 spe- cies of birds, fish and invertebrates the agency has agreed to rule on.
The stoneflies live in streams fed by cold water from glaciers in northwest Montana. Those glaciers are predicted to disappear by 2030, in part due to cli- mate change. Researchers say the stone- flies also could disappear.
Currently, the stonefly is found in just three streams in Glacier National Park.

4. Berry-Hungry Bears Lead to Glacier Campground Closure
Glacier National Park officials have closed a campground that is drawing bears because of its abundant crop of berries.
The St. Mary Campground had been open to only hard-sided camping since late last month because of bear activity. On Sept. 10, officials said even more bears have been attracted to the campground as they enter a period of feeding to pre- pare for hibernation.
The closure will last until bear activity decreases.
Park officials say no incidents between humans and bears have been reported.

A second person involved in a vehicle accident near Libby has died, authorities announced last week.
Joseph Wesley Barnes, 39, died the evening of Sept. 9 at Kalispell Regional Medical Center of injuries sustained in the crash, Lincoln County Sheriff Roby Bowe said.
Barnes was a passenger in a truck that rolled Sunday on Pipe Creek Road.
The driver, Tyler A. Ruhter, died at Kalispell Regional Medical Center on Sept. 9, three days after the vehicle he was driving crashed on Pipe Creek Road north of Libby. Ruhter was one of three people inside the vehicle. A 13-year-old passenger received non-life-threatening injuries.
None of the passengers were wearing seat belts. Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

There were no children on board the bus at the time of the rollover, which occurred shortly before 7 a.m. Juenke was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck and was ejected from the vehicle.
