A DAY in the LIFE
GREATER NORTHWEST MONTANA
9:00 AM
On your way into the park, swing by the Belton Chalet in West Glacier for a gour- met box lunch to go—which includes a mini bottle of bubbly for the adults.
10:00 AM
Fuel up for a big day with breakfast at Eddie’s Café, just inside the West Glacier Entrance Station
at the foot of Lake
McDonald, the largest lake in Glacier.
11:00 AM
Head next door to rent a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard from Glacier Out tters. Put in at the Lake McDonald beach, which gradually drops off into the clear blue glacial waters. Keep your eyes

5:00 PM
The sun will be up for a few more hours, so you’ve still got time to squeeze in a hike. See Lake McDonald from a new
angle; you can wander along the west shore. Or cruise the quick-hit- ting, one-mile Trail of the Cedars, which runs through—surprise—a beautiful cedar grove.
7:00 PM
Stop by the Backslope Brewery, your one-stop-shop for handcrafted beer and a kitchen that rivals all others. You’ll want seconds of the gnocchi, made with brown butter cream sauce and sage.
10:00 PM
Lay your head to rest inside a safari tent or tipi at Glacier Under Canvas.
It’s luxury camping—that is, sleeping under the stars with-
out sacri cing running water, a comfortable bed, and all the trimmings.
peaks.
2:00 PM
Let the rangers take you on a tour. Are you into native plants or wild ow- ers, geologic pro-
cesses, historic buildings, or birds and wildlife? This park is still full of Mother Nature’s secrets, and the rangers know her best. Later on, evening programs like Native America Speaks provide a differ- ent perspective of the park. These talks feature members of the Blackfeet tribe and their stories, which are tightly woven into the landscape.
