Special fishing events coming up just for kids

By Beacon Staff

Children will have a chance to wet a line at upcoming events just for kids.
These fishing days, organized through Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, have been scheduled in northwest Montana to give young anglers an opportunity to fish and participate in fishing-related activities:

• June 2, Shady Lane Kids Fishing Day, 9 a.m. to noon, Old Steel Bridge Fishing Access, Kalispell (Contact MFWP at 751-4550)
• June 2, Triangle Pond Kids Fishing Day, Triangle Pond west of Noxon (contact Avista at 847-1280)
• June 9, Troy Kids Fishing Day, 8 am to Noon, Troy Family Fishing Pond, (contact MFWP at 293-4161 ext. 100 or USFS at 295-7422)
All of the events offer fishing for kids ages 12 and younger. The events also offer activities such as casting, fish identification, art, and water safety. Lots of prizes are available for participants. A large number of groups cooperate to sponsor these days including sportsmen clubs, businesses, civic organizations and government agencies to make these fun and safe days for the whole family.
