Rockin’ Outdoors Again

By Beacon Staff

After a several year hiatus during village construction, Big Mountain Resort is bringing back their summer outdoor evening concerts in a new location. In the new venue on the slope above the Day Lodge, favorites such as Elvin Bishop, Lou Gramm, and The Marshall Tucker Band will rock the slopes during July and August. Tickets just went on sale for the four-concert series.

Mixing half rock and roll with pop and country, Steve Holy climbed to number one in 2006 with his hit “Brand New Girlfriend.” He’ll perform with special guest country-western singer Julie Roberts on July 21.

Lead vocalist and co-writer of the multi-platinum band Foreigner, Lou Gramm will perform classics like “Hot Blooded” and “Juke Box Hero” as well as new solo hits like “Midnight Blue.” On July 28, he appears with special guest Elvin Bishop who recently released the album “Gettin’ My Groove Back” in 2005.

One of the most consistent power hitters in country music, Sammy Kershaw has a chain of major hit records. On August 4, he will perform with special guest Ray Scott, whose debut album “My Kind of Music” topped two charts with its release.

From their first LP in 1973, The Marshall Tucker Band has produced one hit single after another. You’ll hear “Heard It In a Love Song,” “Fire On The Mountain,” “Can’t You See,” and “Take The Highway” as they wrap up the series on August 11.

You can purchase advance tickets now for $25. They’ll be $30 on show day. A special four-show package with limited quantities is offered for the price of three if purchased by July 13. Tickets are available at (406) 862-2900 or www.bigmtn.com.
