KALISPELL (AP) – A construction worker was seriously injured Thursday after falling more than 40 feet in Glacier National Park, a park news release said.

The 18-year-old man fell in a construction zone east of the East Tunnel on the Going-to-the-Sun Road, the release said. His name was withheld pending notification of family.

The incident was reported to the park’s dispatch center at about noon.

Responding park rangers stabilized the man and raised him in a litter to the road, the release said. He was then transported by helicopter to the Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

A hospital supervisor said the man was treated and released.

The incident remained under investigation, the release said.
