LAKESIDE (AP) – An 81-year-old man died Friday evening after being struck by an RV while walking along U.S. Highway 93 here, authorities said.
Wallace Best was walking on a pedestrian path on the side of the highway when the RV pulled out of a parking lot shared by a convenience store and a fast-food restaurant.
The RV clipped Best as it turned onto U.S. 93 and knocked him down. The vehicle’s rear tire then ran over Best, authorities said.
The RV kept going, but authorities later caught up to the vehicle, KCFW-TV reported. The driver told the Montana Highway Patrol he never saw Best, authorities said.
Flathead County authorities were still investigating the incident late Friday.
Best’s family was notified, and his body was taken to the Buffalo Hill Funeral Home.
Investigators will forward their findings to the county attorney’s office, which will decide whether charges should be filed.
