Cool cream, hot licks

By Beacon Staff

It was almost a typical summer evening on the front deck at the Columbia Falls Dairy Queen.

A gorgeous summer evening in C-Falls, the setting sun, a Blizzard, a few kids from my troop and their friends, some neighbors, tourists and a pile of people I didnt know – standard fare for any summer evening at the DQ.

But this time, a twist – and not one of the ice cream variety. Instead, a live concert outside.

I can’t recall attending a concert at a Dairy Queen (and I’m sure it’s not a child of the 60’s thing), but I was intrigued when my 17 year old said a friend of a friend’s band was playing the DQ in C-Falls last night.

You got it. Last night “3 Minutes From Home” (aka 3MFH) burned up the makeshift stage at the Dairy Queen (yes, I realize that sounds rather strange) with their brand of hard-hitting indie rock.

Rest assured that it was worth the visit.

The synergy between Zach and bassist Adam Schilling (pictured below) was really something, and did nothing to hide Luke’s skills on the Strat. Check these guys out. Last night’s crowd ranged from 2 to 52, there’s something there for every rock fan.
