Yesterday I was on a Southwest flight from Chicago to Seattle and it conveniently flew over the Bob Marshall Wilderness during the ride. Here’s a few shots of the fires from 38,000 feet.
Even though USFS’s Jimmy DeHerrera had told me previously that there were tons (my words, not his) of little fires all over the Bob, it’s just not the same until you see them. I only took a few shots because they all look somewhat alike – but I can assure you, there are “a ton” of big and little fires all over the Bob. Some were downright tiny. A couple were rather large – and of course, many of them were in terrain that appears to prevent doing anything about them.
