HELENA (AP) – Montana Rep. Denny Rehberg holds a big fundraising lead over Democratic challenger Bill Kennedy, reports filed Monday show.
Rehberg reported raising $205,721 in the most recent quarter, compared with Kennedy’s $63,742. Rehberg said he has raised $401,258 so far this election cycle, while Kennedy reported a total of $178,418.
Rehberg had $484,572 on hand, and Kennedy reported $107,307 in the bank as of Sept. 30.
The Rehberg campaign said the four-term congressman was on pace to surpass previous fundraising efforts.
Kennedy, a Yellowstone County commissioner, said he was raising more money than previous Rehberg opponents.
Both campaigns said more than 90 percent of their contributions came from Montana.
Kennedy ran for secretary of state in 2004, losing by 2 percentage points to Bozeman Republican Brad Johnson.
Rehberg has easily won each of his last three races.
