Sports Buffet: Current and Former Flathead Players Break Records

By Beacon Staff

On Friday night Flathead High’s star junior quarterback Brock Osweiler broke the school record for touchdown passes in a season when he threw five in a 47-20 win over Missoula Hellgate to give him 26 for the season. The previous record was 23. Less than 24 hours later, Lex Hilliard, Flathead’s former standout running back, broke the University of Montana’s all-time rushing touchdowns record in 52-7 win over Northern Colorado.

The Beacon reported on Columbia Falls’ huge victory over rival Whitefish to secure a home game in the state tournament. Glacier and Bigfork, which finished its season, remained winless after Friday’s games. In college action, Montana State slipped past Sacramento State 20-9, while Montana Tech ran over Rocky Mountain College 36-7 and Carroll College beat Eastern Oregon 28-7.
