Men Accused of Shooting at Deputies Caught

By Beacon Staff

Two men who allegedly fired rounds at Flathead County deputies early Thursday morning were caught several hours later. No one was hurt, but the suspects, who initially alluded capture, prompted law enforcement to set up three roadblocks in the Creston area.

Donald Joseph Schwindt, 40, and Brian Daniel Rendon, 36, are parole violators from Oregon. Rendon was once charged with homicide.

Deputies responded to a report from a female caller on Riverside Road near Creston at about 1:23 a.m. Thursday who said the two men had “torn up the house” and beat her up. When deputies arrived, shots were allegedly fired. The home was cleared but the suspects were not immediately found.

A perimeter was set up near Creston, including two roadblocks on Riverside Road and another at the junction of U.S. Highway 35 and Dyer Road.

Schwindt and Rendon were arrested without incident and charges are pending.
