Rocky Prevails Over Eastern Oregon, 21-17

BILLINGS (AP) – Senior quarterback Drew Hedrick passed for 196 yards and two touchdowns, and Mike Thomas ran 86 yards for another score, as Rocky Mountain College beat Eastern Oregon 21-17 on Saturday.

Hedrick passed to wide receiver Brian Guisti for touchdowns covering 25 and 24 yards. Thomas rushed 17 times for 154 yards, including his 86-yarder in the second quarter.

Rocky, now 2-6 in the Frontier Conference and 3-6 overall, built leads of 14-3 and 21-10 in defeating Eastern Oregon, which fell to 1-7 in conference football and 1-8 overall.

Eastern Oregon led 3-0 on a 32-yard field goal by Thomas Akers in the first quarter.

The Bears responded with a 25-yard scoring pass from Hedrick to Guisti and with Thomas’s long scoring run, moving Rocky ahead 14-3 with 8:53 left in the second quarter.

Eastern Oregon managed a 1-yard run by quarterback Ian O’Brien, for a halftime score of 14-10.

Rocky added to its lead on a 24-yard touchdown pass from Hedrick to Guisti, moving the score to 21-10 with 10:21 remaining in the third quarter.

The Mountaineers climbed to within 21-17 on another 1-yard run by O’Brien with 3:54 left in the third, but could get no closer.

O’Brien passed for 177 yards and rushed for 20.

Rocky had 411 yards of total offense. The Mountaineers had 288.
