After the first rounds of the Class A and AA football playoffs, the Flathead Valley has no hopefuls left. On Friday the Flathead Braves lost to Billings Senior 27-20 in the first round of the Class AA state tourney. Columbia Falls and Whitefish each lost a week earlier in the first round of the Class A tourney.

In college action, the Montana Grizzlies improved to 9-0 with a 34-31 victory over Portland State. Kalispell native Lex Hilliard had his third straight 100-yard rushing game, finishing with 116 yards and tying the school record for touchdowns with his 48th career trip to the end zone. Montana State lost to Northern Arizona 29-14. At the NAIA level, Rocky Mountain College slipped past Montana State-Northern 16-10 and Carroll College remained undefeated with a 30-16 victory over Montana-Western.
