Citing Health, Kennedy Withdraws From Congressional Race

By Beacon Staff

BILLINGS (AP) – Democrat Bill Kennedy, citing personal health reasons, says he will not be a candidate for the U.S. House in 2008.

Kennedy said a recent health concern forced him to reconsider his challenge to Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg in next year’s congressional election.

Montana has one member in the U.S. House.

Kennedy announced in April that he would be a candidate for the Democratic nomination for Congress. However, he now says he will not file or accept further contributions.

Kennedy declined to give specifics on his health concerns, but he told The Billings Gazette he would continue to serve as a Yellowstone County commissioner.
