LAS VEGAS (AP) – Mandy Morales scored 30 points, including six 3-pointers, to help Montana to an 86-81 win over Richmond in the title game of the UNLV Lady Rebel Shootout on Saturday.
Sonya Rogers had 17 points and Johanna Closson added 13. Closson also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
Morales, who was named the tournament’s most valuable player, scored 22 points in the first half. But the Lady Griz (3-2) trailed 42-41 at the break.
Richmond’s Kara Powell tied the game at 77-77 with just over two minutes remaining.
Tamara Guardipee missed for the Lady Griz on their next possession, but senior Laura Cote forced a Richmond turnover with 1:44 to play. Rogers hit a 3-pointer to put Montana ahead 80-77 with 1:33 remaining.
The Lady Griz led the rest of the game.
Johanna McKnight led the Spiders (3-4) with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Christina Campion had 13 points and Katie Holzer added 12. Holzer led Richmond with 10 rebounds.
