Nevada Beats Montana State 82-76

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Marcelus Kemp scored 23 points to lead Nevada past Montana State 82-76 on Saturday night.

Demarshay Johnson added 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds as the Wolf Pack (3-4) ended its three-game losing streak.

Carlos Taylor scored 23 points to lead the Bobcats (4-4), which saw its two-game winning streak come to an end.

Kemp moved into third place on Nevada’s all-time list for 3-pointers with 171. Kemp also moved into eighth place on the Wolf Pack’s all-time scoring list with 1,414 points.

Montana State went on a 10-0 run in the first four minutes of the second half to take its first lead of the game at 43-41. The Bobcats led by two on four different occasions, the last at 52-50 with 11:45 to play.

A 3-pointer and a runner in the land by Kemp gave Nevada a 69-64 lead with 3:38 to go.

Nevada scored its final nine points from the free throw line in the final 55 seconds.

The Wolf Pack led by as much as 11 in the first half as David Ellis hit a jumper with two minutes to go for a 38-27 lead. The Bobcats, though, scored the last five points of the half, topping it off with a 3-pointer at the buzzer by Taylor, who led all scorers in the first half with 14 points.

Nevada had a 39-33 lead at halftime behind Kemp’s 14 points.
